Presence-Based Leadership Development

The world is in dire need of leaders in business, education, and non-profits who embody their deepest values, and lead from strong commitments.

We teach, and coach, leaders who:

  • make, and deliver on, commitments that they care deeply about
  • connect authentically with others
  • mobilize others through their leadership presence
  • see on-going development of their character and competencies as central elements of success
  • cultivate resilience, authenticity, and resourcefulness
  • become self-generative: capable of making choices from the inner state of greatest possible awareness and resourcefulness.

Presence-Based Leadership Development is a unique approach to cultivating these leaders. This site offers resources for greatly accelerating the development of leaders based on solid, proven coaching principles and practices. We also train and support coaches in using our approach with their own organizations and clientele.

Doug’s leading edge books are a significant contribution to the coaching field, integrating mindfulness and presence into pragmatic approaches to leadership development.

COACHING: Doug Silsbee’s pioneering Presence-Based Coaching encourages clients to enter into strong commitments and to take meaningful and skillful action to produce results they care about. Along the way, clients cultivate leadership presence, resilience, and aliveness.

TRAINING: Doug trains and mentors coaches, aspiring coaches, and leaders.

BOOKS: The Mindful Coach (2004) and Presence-Based Coaching (coming in Oct. 2008 from Jossey-Bass) are significant contributions to the fields of leadership development and coaching.

testimonial-1

Doug's coaching has been extremely valuable as I've stepped into a challenging new role, established myself as a leader, and begun to build a culture of accountability and commitment. The benefits include articulating my expectations clearly, engaging my team in decision-making, and modeling accountability at every turn. The sense of excitement and optimism around here is contagious!
